Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before registering for any lecture or seminar or using this website. By registering, submitting your information, or interacting with this website or our communications, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not register or use our services.

1. Who we are

1.1. This website (empoweryourselflectures.com) is operated by SLC Network LLC, doing business as Empowerment Lectures Chicago ("ELC"), which funds and manages advertising for these events and sends event-related text messages and calls to people who consent. The free public lectures and seminars promoted on this page are presented by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation ("HDF"), located at 650 S. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60605. HDF is a name under which the Church of Scientology Chicago does business. In these Terms, HDF and ELC are referred to together as "we," "our," or "us."

2. Eligibility

2.1. You must be at least 18 years old to register, submit your information, or receive communications from us. By registering, you represent that you are 18 or older.

3. Registration and communications

3.1. Registration information. You agree to provide accurate and complete information, which includes your name, email address, and mobile phone number.

3.2. How your information is used. As described more fully in our Privacy Policy, your email address is used by HDF to send you event communications by email, and your mobile phone number is used by ELC to send you event communications by text message and telephone.

3.3. Event communications. By registering, you consent to receive messages necessary to support your attendance, including confirmations, reminders, updates, and changes to schedule or venue.

3.4. Ongoing communications. Where you separately consent at registration, HDF and ELC may contact you about future lectures, seminars, books, courses, and related Dianetics offerings. Consent to these communications is not a condition of attending any event.

3.5. Text message and call terms. Text messages and calls are made using automated technology. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

3.6. Opting out. Reply STOP to any text message to stop texts, or HELP for assistance. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email to stop marketing email. You may also opt out by contacting [email protected], and we will honor opt-out requests made by any reasonable method. Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about an event you have already registered for unless you ask to be removed entirely.

4. Events are free

4.1. The lectures and seminars promoted on this page are offered free of charge. No payment is collected for registration or attendance.

5. Nature of the content

5.1. The lectures and seminars promoted on this page are based on Dianetics, developed by L. Ron Hubbard, and are offered for educational purposes. Attendees may be introduced to Dianetics books, courses, and services offered by HDF, including the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Attendance carries no obligation of any kind.

5.2. HDF is a name under which the Church of Scientology Chicago, a religious organization, does business. Books, courses, and services that may be offered after a lecture are provided by the Church of Scientology Chicago through HDF.

6. Data privacy

6.1. Your personal information is collected, used, and processed in compliance with applicable privacy laws and our Privacy Policy, which is available via the link at the bottom of each page of this website. By agreeing to these Terms, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

7.1. Copyright. All materials presented at our events and on this website — including presentations, slides, handouts, audio and video recordings, spoken content, text, and images — are protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaty provisions, and remain the property of their respective owners. These materials are made available for the sole purpose of your personal participation in the event and viewing of this website. You are not authorized to download, record, transmit, reproduce, distribute, publish, or share any of these materials in any form or by any means — electronic or mechanical, including recording, printing, or photocopying — or to create derivative works from them, without the express prior written permission of the copyright owner.

7.2. Recording prohibited. You may not record any part of an event by audio or video without prior written permission.

7.3. Trademarks. DIANETICS, HUBBARD, L. RON HUBBARD, and LRH are trademarks and service marks owned by Religious Technology Center and are used with its permission.

8. Hyperlinks

8.1. This website may contain hyperlinks to third-party websites. We have no liability for the contents of such websites, do not control them, and do not endorse them or their contents. Your use of any third-party website is at your own risk.

9. Changes and cancellations

9.1. We may cancel, reschedule, or modify the content, format, location, or speakers of any event at our discretion. If an event is cancelled or significantly changed, we will notify registered attendees by email and/or text using the contact information provided.

10. Conduct at events

10.1. We may decline admission to, or ask to leave, any person whose conduct is disruptive or unsafe.

11. Disclaimers

11.1. Not medical or psychological treatment. Our lectures, seminars, books, and courses are offered for educational purposes. They are not medical, psychological, or psychiatric diagnosis or treatment, and they are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. Do not stop or change any medical or psychiatric treatment or medication without first consulting your physician. Consult a qualified professional regarding any specific concern.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

13.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without giving effect to any conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of this website shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. You irrevocably consent to the jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to venue in Cook County.

14. Changes to these Terms

14.1. We may modify these Terms at any time. The version posted on this page is the one that applies. We will update the effective date above when changes are made. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Severability

15.1. The provisions of these Terms are intended to be severable. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part in any jurisdiction, that provision will be ineffective only to the extent of such invalidity or unenforceability, without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions or of that provision in any other jurisdiction.
